2016 Bucks Locavore ~Buy Local award winning event welcomed over 900 guests.
Over 900 community members attended Superior Woodcraft’s 7th Annual Bucks Locavore ~Buy-Local Networking Event.
On February 25, 2016, Superior Woodcraft, customer cabinet maker in Doylestown, once again hosted this award winning event in their historical factory. Bucks Locavore gave participants the unique opportunity to network while sampling specially prepared foods, beverages, and delicacies from over 30 of the region’s top local producers. Including, Bill’s Best BBQ Sauces, Blue Moon Acres, The Brown Soap Company, Bucks County Brewery, Bucks County Preserves, Buckingham Valley Vineyard, Castle Valley Mill, Crooked Eye Brewery, Confection Perfection, Don’t Worry Bee Healthy, Doylestown Brewing Company, Doylestown Food Market, Fulper Family Farms, Goodnoe’s Dairy Farms, Hewn Spirits, Homestead Coffee Roasters, Just Food, Karamoor Wines, Laurie’s Chocolates, The Market at Del Val College, McCafrey’s Markets, M & E Edibles, Nina’s Waffles, Noble Sweets, Offbeat Gourmet, Olive Oil Etc., Perfect Day Coffee, Q’s Cookies, Rose Bank Winery, Saucy Sue’s Sauces, Sole Kombucha, Sweet Victory Gluten and Dairy Free Treats and Wycombe Vineyards.
Voted best business event, Bucks Locavore is few of its kind encouraging business networking while offering a fresh perspective on what it means to shop the local vendors. Particularly welcoming many top chefs who come to sample these locally produced items in order to incorporate in their culinary creations. Our participating producers not only benefit from relationships with new suppliers and local consumers but with each other. Many meet at Bucks Locavore and start using each other’s goods to offer a new brand new product. New this year, Joe Stockridge of Q’s Cookies talks about partnering with his fellow producers “What a great event! I partnered with Castle Valley Mill, using their Bolted Stone Ground Spring Wheat (a soft, almost cake flour, whole wheat flour) in my Kitchen Sink Cookies, the Pumpkin Cinnamon Chip Cookies, and the Bermuda Fudge Brownies. I also used some of Hewn Spirits Gold Rum in the Bermuda Fudge Brownies. Laurie, from Laurie’s Chocolates, and I also talked about topping my gluten-free Peanut Butter Cookies with a miniature chocolate truffle from Laurie’s”.
A popular favorite returning this year was Hewn Sprits. Dana Weddell of Hewn talks about meeting two new businesses this year and future their plans, “We’re looking forward to partnering up with Sole Kombucha to make a new, healthy, bubbly cocktail with our vodka! Simply Fresh (McCaffrey’s Markets) may be providing us with artisanal meat and cheese platters for our patrons to munch on. We had a BLAST and will most certainly be interested in returning!”
Host Patrick Kennedy of Superior Woodcraft summed it up perfectly, “This event is a reflection of our local community. The success of the Locavore ~ Buy Local Event is due to the strong and vibrant local business community. It is rewarding for Superior Woodcraft to participate in an event that strengthens the local economy, which benefits local businesses and strengthens our community. The annual Bucks Locavore ~ Buy Local Event is one event that inspires the creation of new and unique local products and creates real business growth.”
